7The new Mack the Wildcat ran onto the Maxwell Field turf to rousing applause at the Homecoming football game Oct. 12. Mack’s new look is the first redesign on Linfield’s mascot in more than a decade. Look for Mack at upcoming Linfield events.

- Linfield’s mascot has donned a sailor ap for decades. Like the previous mascot, this version of Mack has a cap, and the “L” resembles the block version found on the football field.
- Mack loves to have a good time, and that’s why new Mack has a big smile.
- This kitten needs no mittens. The new Mack has four claws on each paw, which is better for taking selfies with Linfield fans.
- Is it a coincidence that Linfield unveiled a beefier mascot at the same time as it opened a renovated weight room? Mack looks stronger after hitting the gym.
- Mack sometimes wears the jersey number that correlates with the number of consecutive winning football seasons.
- Donald Duck, Porky Pig, Winnie the Pooh and the previous Mack had something in common: a lack of lower-body attire. The new Mack is bucking the pants-less trend and opted for a pair of shorts.
- The mascot comes with a fuzzy tail that will surely be tugged by little mischievous Wildcat fans.
- Is Foster the People Mack’s favorite band? Perhaps! Mack as “Pumped Up Kicks” instead of floppy feet.
