Richard ’52 and Ruth (Ferrell) Perry ’54 of Roseburg celebrated their platinum 70th wedding anniversary on June 13, 2022. The couple met at Linfield. Ruth remembers a psychology professor nicknaming her “Fleetfoot Ferrell,” after she caught her future husband in the Sadie Hawkins race. Richard retired in 1997 as professor emeritus at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, after teaching physics for 36 years. Ruth worked in education and was a homemaker, wife and mother. The couple have four children and helped homeschool three grandchildren. They are active in the Open Bible Church and volunteer with Mobile Kingdom Builders.
