Hanna Shields ’22, Nick Zdroy ’22 and Anne Christine Walkup ’21 received grants from the U.S. Fulbright Student Program for the 2022-23 academic year. The three Wildcats join a long tradition of distinguished Linfield students and faculty members who have received Fulbright grants. Linfield was named one of the top Fulbright-producing institutions in 2018.
Shields and Zdroy were awarded Fulbright Open Study/Research Awards to conduct research internationally. Shields, a biochemistry and molecular biology major from Star, Idaho, will spend time at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Disease. Zdroy, an applied physics major from Pendleton, will study mechanical engineering and product development at Aalto University in Finland. Meanwhile, Walkup, who double majored in Spanish and journalism and media studies, received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award (ETA) to teach English in Spain.
