The Oregon Nobel Laureate Symposium at Linfield University returns April 10-11, 2025. The event will feature Randy W. Schekman, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2013.
His research was recognized for the discoveries of machinery regulating vesicle traffic, a major transport system in human cells. As a result of his work on yeast membranes, advances have been made in life-saving drugs and vaccines. This includes insulin production for people with diabetes, the vaccine for hepatitis B and discoveries concerning genetic forms of Parkinson’s disease.
Additional details on the symposium are forthcoming and will be shared on linfield.edu/nobel.
