Focusing on ‘Moving the Needle’

Linfield has prioritized its commitment to student retention and graduation through a new collaboration with Credo, a leading educational consulting company. The Moving the Needle (MTN) initiative is a partnership that seeks to increase Linfield’s three-year average retention rate by five percentage points, from 81% to 86% by 2028.

“While our retention and student achievement remain solid, and we continue to graduate alumni who are changing the world, we are taking steps to ensure that greater numbers of our students will realize these goals,” President Miles K. Davis said.

The MTN and Credo teams spent the fall semester gathering and analyzing information from Linfield’s students and employees. Small focus groups and surveys were conducted during October and November. Throughout the spring, three university-wide committees will work to implement change in three key areas of the university: clearance (that is, creating a streamlined process for students from registration to graduation); early intervention; and academic advising.
